Since September 2013, I’ve been volunteering with the dynamic Creative Mornings Montreal team. Founded in 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg (Swissmiss) CreativeMornings began out of a desire for an accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept is simple: breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month, free of charge and open to anyone. The Montreal chapter began in the spring of 2013, and I was ecstatic to get on board this past fall. Each month brings out a few keen regulars, and a batch of new enthusiasts, who vary as the monthly themes evolve.
As Content and Community Manager, I contribute to creating and publishing articles and texts for the Creative Mornings Montreal digital platforms, mostly our Tumblr blog, and newsletter. In order to maintain interest in between events, I’ve had the opportunity to interview our speakers before their talks, getting insights into their creative process and how they plan on approaching the monthly theme in question. As our community grows and evolves, we also attempt to share more information about other Montreal events and creative news, rather than purely self-promotional content. So far it seems to be working, our community is very enthusiastic, with most events selling out within minutes. Looking forward to many more inspiring mornings in 2014!
