PressBooks is a book publishing software built on top of WordPress, allowing authors and publishers to easily create books for any device, PDFs for printing on-demand, and webbooks. I worked directly with founder Hugh McGuire on developing a marketing strategy focused on the launch of a new version of the software, as well as the release as an open source WordPress plugin.
We established clear and achievable communication and marketing objectives, key target groups, and an adaptable but coherent messaging strategy for future initiatives. I also created a tactical plan, outlining: updated web content, participation in key international conferences, continued social media efforts, media relations, client relationship management, partnership development, and making more books with PressBooks. PressBooks continues to get positive reviews from its users, and increased media attention as the world catches on to the seemingly limitless possibilities of creating and putting books online.
